Description
Perry Bradford was a singer, songwriter, pianist and vaudeville and minstrel performer who forever changed the sound of American popular music by convincing Okeh Records to release the first Blues record in 1920.
The Jazz Phools featured Bradford on vocals, James P. Johnson (composer of "Charleston") on piano and Louis Armstrong on coronet. It also features Gus Aiken (coronet), a member of the Jenkins Orphanage Band from Charleston, SC who played with Armstrong for many years.
