Description

This is a recording of the famous Rondo from Abdelazar. Purcell composed this suite of incidental music in 1695 (for string orchestra) for the revival of a play called "The Moor's Revenge" from 1676. I have transcribed and recorded this harpsichord version because there are no versions available to listen to which are rendered on keyboard instruments. Secondly, the parts were probably worked out on an instrument very much like this one, so this is what we would have heard, were we to have had the opportunity to visit him in his music studio while he was working on it.
